One of my sidelines is dealing in vintage Griswold cast iron cook ware. I just bought a large lot from a collectors widow. Here is before and after shots of what I do. Many I sell on ebay, others I give to family or close friends.

This one is about a 20s vintage and worth an average of about $50-$60 but some go as high as $100 on ebay.
If you aren't familiar with cast iron, Griswold is as good as it gets.

Crud and rust but no heavy rust. I traded all the really rusty and ones that didn't set flat to a local antique shop for a nice Kinfolks hunting knife, a 20s vintage #3 Stanley bench plane, Early Gold Dust casino ashtray and some cash.
I burn mine off by hanging in a barrel with coals. You can use lye or an ultrasound cleaner. I've even heard of soaking them good in easy-off and tie it in a garbage bag for a couple days.
Then I spend about 20 minutes scrubbing in hot soapy water with scotch brite. That gets rid of the light rust too. After that I put them on the stove with some lard and heat until it smokes, dump out and use paper towels to wipe it out and wipe the outside with the same grease. I have seasoned with crisco or wesson in the past but it leaves a yellow varnish. I find lard is the best.

I got a couple of Griswold no9 Tite-Top Dutch Oven pots, inside the lid it says patented Feb 10 1920 Erie Pa USA 2552 A in ex. cond. Any idea what they might be worth?
