Rat Fink that is , my son and my self are building a tribute to Ed Roth , bubble top , ours is steel but use what you have , we started it a few years ago and are in the home stretch , a few guys have asked for build picks so here we go, this is where we are currently at , starting body work

the beginnings , we had A couple 1961 ford uni-body box sides laying around and a rebuilt 200 6 cyl and trans that needed a home , my son and myself are huge Roth fans so we though we would give it a shot [;)[;)[;)[;)[;)

frame was made up of 2x3 tube , had a Pinto front and rear axle in the shop that no one wanted so the cheaper the better , we needed an opening for the bubble and got looking at the wheel-cutouts and put them on[;)[;)

my son was going to school for auto body and got his instructor talked into letting him work on it there , they build quite a few rods there so it wasn't to tough, some fab work and body panels later

tailight area was a little beat up so we made so cans for quad 59 Caddy bullets

found some clear 59 Caddy bullets so he made some cans on the cowl for marker / blinker light[;)[;)[;)

got invited to an indoor car show in Sioux City , put it in the project class , was funny listening to people walk by and wonder where these guys had found this old Roth car [S[S , was cool to talk to poeple about it there also

and back home again , shot some primer on to keep it from rusting:eek::eek: and to get a good idea of the shape in one color, one guy even photo-shop it blue , we were talking about blue metal-flake with white scalops but might reverse it[S

and this summer we took it out to Mitchell SD. for the Outkast show , had to push it around didn't quite have the wiring done and had a lot of people wondering where we hid the radiator:confused::confused: hope to have some color on it this spring:cool:

Awesome build! [cl[cl Great use of what you had available and first rate metal work. The use of the wheel openings for the cockpit is genius :cool:
I'll be watching this one for sure [P[P[P
 
well we have looked at a few sites on the net that guys blow bubbles for homeade airplanes and the make an oven or big BBQ grille to blow the bubbles, soooooo we are in the process of building an oven to do the job , and building the forms to sandwich the plexi-glass and ready to heat and blow , if the oven fails I do know a powder coater with an oven that could heat the plexi before the blow , we are talking about making 2 rings , one with the bubble and one with a "legal" v-style windsheild in case we take it on a cruze , you can buy them from the guys that do the Mcdonalds playland bubbles but there shapes aren't quite what we want so we will give it a shot , don't know until you try.
