i need to dril four 1/2" holes all the way through my 2x4 frame
top to bottom.
there will be bolts going through to hold the cab of my truck to the frame.
will that weaken my frame considerably?

You should weld a sleeve into the frame tube to keep from squashing it. Or for my body mounts, I have fabricated brackets to weld to the frame, then you don't have to drill through the frame, which can provide a place to start a crack. The brackets make a cleaner installation.

The sleeves are good advice. Also remember that vertical welds down a frame, also make for a good place for cracks to get started. The holes running from the top to bottom are better than those running from side to side for stress cracks

You will need sleeves as stated above, one of the main reasons is that you will never get your bolts to stay tight or even torqued properly because of the flex.

What are you using that on for a washer?

I would use tabs off the frame, but if you are determined to use those 6" bolts, washers won't stop you from crushing your frame, use sleeves
