In the 70's a guy built a street legal (well, sort of legal[ddev) dragster. He used a T bucket body set back all the way and used a tube frame, just like a dragster, plus a Ford SOHC Hemi.........something like 700 hp. He drove it to one of the first Street Rod Nationals. It had dragster front wheels and slicks on the back. He went through several States on the way to the Nationals and got stopped pretty regularly enroute by cops who weren't quite sure what they were looking at. :D

That one in the background of your picture would be just as cool.

I would think he means the dragster in the background,it would be a nice project to build.
 
The car in the background would have run in Comp class in the old days. They were pretty much dragster chassis with a bit of body hung on the back end.
Fuel Coupes and Fuel Altereds were based more on the Altered rules which allowed for a 25% engine setback.
