Government efficiency is a wondorous thing to behold.

Without revealing too much but enough to really make you scratch your head...

Goose, Would you like us to make these 50 feet long?

Gov, Nooooo, make them 25 feet long.

Goose, Okay, we will make them 50 feet long and cut then to 25 is that okay?

Gov, That is fine with us as long as it lowers cost.

Goose, It will lower cost.

Fast forward 10 months

Gov, Here are the drawings for the final shapes.

Goose, These drawings show the items 50 feet long but the parts are 25 feet long in accordance with your PO.

Gov, Then weld them back together.[

Goose, That will increase your cost

Gov, that is okay we would have needed to weld them back together in the first place.

Goose, Then why did we cut them

Gov, because we did not think about the advantages at the time.

Yep that pretty much sums it up.

Both of my parents worked and retired from government jobs so it’s hard to surprise me with these stories.

I worked on a couple Gov contracts, We had a saying, we do it nice cause we changed it a 100 time (thank god it was just one screw).
