If you have any trucker buddies ask where they buy replacement springs for trucks and trailers, I would bet theirs a spring place in your town. Springs are not to big of a cost when you go this way, they may re-arch yours for little cost, or the new cost will be a lot lower than you think. just...

I wouldn't look at it as a driver but a core, the small block motor, a bellhouseing and there may a 4 speed in there.

Just my thoughts but, I don't use one either, why would have the expense of tubing, time, gauges, tachs and storage ? you may use it one maybe two times? why not just take it to a dyno the cost would be less than the cost to build and you don't have the lost storage space, around here the cost...

only thing I can think of that may be a problem is the fuel tank on the 79 it's outside the frame rail on the 59 it was behind the seat I think. but you could put it anywhere on the 59 it would be a easy move. cool truck by the way!

Take them to a shop, recon the rods, over time the rod ends get a little out of round. an engine shop will have the right tools to get you fixed up.

not slamming you at all, I just think of my stuff as toys, just like a quad or boat. I don't know anything about multi carb set ups was just playing with ya! you talk about bad mileage I had a 2008 Ford Superduty with the 6.4 and got 9 mpg that sucked at 250 miles a day.
