installing a Chev LUV chassis under a 1963 Ford Falcon Ranchero

As just about everyone knows, the little falcon (and early mustangs) had basically a sheet metal sub frame on both ends of the car with only the body holding it together in between. I've had some success using the little Chevy LUV frame under a number of other apps....and was wondering if anyone...

    41 Ford Truck Build

Overall it looks like a plenty healthy truck. Sorry about the frame situation. Seems a lot of the Fords of this era have the same problem - not sure why. Check my thread " 45' Ford pu on LUV chassis". Not sure if you plan to go fenderless or not, but sure worked for me. I hope to be driving...

'45 Ford PU on Chevy LUV chassis (more pics)

I do have a louver press...wife got it for me for Christmas a couple of years ago....I built the frameworks for it out of 8" I-beam. seems to work well. You can probably see it (blue) in the background of some of the pictures.

'45 Ford PU on Chevy LUV chassis (more pics)

You are close!....it's a '37 coupe. I've had it for 39 years. It's been built twice and is currently waiting for it's 3rd. I've also got a '37 convertible hiding in the corner behind the coupe as well as that big ole '60 Pontiac Bonneville. The convertible and the Poncho is the wife's...rest...

'45 Ford PU on Chevy LUV chassis (more pics)

I used an aftermarket Mustang II rack & pinion

'45 Ford PU on Chevy LUV chassis (more pics)

The original steering has the box placed in front of the centerline of the wheels atop the left framerail. This works fine for a fat fendered car/truck as all of this is hidden, but looks out of place on an exposed style vehicle such as I'm building. I removed all of the steering, idler arms...

'45 Ford PU on Chevy LUV chassis (more pics)

Maybe the pics are posting....hope so. Maybe you can tell how these little chassis' seem to lend themselves quite well to our hobby. I've done nothing to the chassis other than some lowering blocks in the rear and replacing the stock steering with a rack and pinion. I cut the floor from the...

Air compressor tank for gas tank

I've got an old air compressor that has finally given up. I'm thinking about using the 20 gallon tank as a fuel tank for the bobber truck I'm building. I think it'd look right at home behind the cab/in the bed. I know I'll probably have to cut off one end just to clean it out but that really...

45' Ford PU on a Chev. LUV chassis

Well, new to the site. Began this project a few years ago for my brother-in-law. It's been quite a learning experience...retired from my job after 34 years, helped my brother build a 36' Ford coupe from the frame up, decided to move 300 miles away after living in the same town virtually since...

Narrowing the rear frame rails on 63' Falcon Ranchero

Great! Thanks, I'll begin the "search" for just such a replacement.

1946 Ford Rat Rod Budget Build

I'm building the same thing - 40' Ford PU. The S-10 chassis seems to be used a lot for these builds. I'm opting for a 1980's Chev. LUV. It seems to be a much cleaner frame when comparing the two..and when all the unnecessary tabs and brackets are removed, it's looks almost like an aftermarket...

Narrowing the rear frame rails on 63' Falcon Ranchero

Has anyone attempted this little project? I've seen Falcons at the drags running big slicks and they have them tucked all under the car - no cutting out the wheel well.

    frame question

Hey, isn't the front end under your car what they used for the first Corvettes? If so, I'm sure you could get what new parts you need from a Corvette site.

    rear end swap

How 'bout a Chevy LUV rear-end? The Chevy LUV rear-end is about 55" wide, is the same 6 lug...most come with a 4:11 gear, (standard trans) and have axles as big as 9" Fords....I've run them under everything I'm building. Most can be bought for mere fraction of after market stuff.
