Willow...That's a Gyromatic transmission, my brother had that combo in a'53 Coronet. Loved the car, hated the tranny!

I like to put a starter relay beside the battery. This way, the big cable is only hot when the starter is engaged. Run a smaller wire to the dash. Also, a ground wire to the engine or transmission works better than a short one to the frame.

Did the two-lever trick when we put a '55 OD and rear end in my '54 Bel Aire, with the added feature of a switch on the 2-3 lever for the OD, and a third lever also for the OD. Nobody else ever drove it!

A good man with a torch can blow those bolts out, and a quick pass with a threading die will get rid of any slag bits left. Done it myself many times. Even a hitch bolt on an IHC!

I have a 270 in a truck body, cool engine. I had a 241 in a '39 IHC back in school in the '60's, loved the engine, hated the transmission! ( Powerflite 2-spd, all I could find.)

A 4x6 is lumber. That truck is a 6x6. Just sayin'.....

They can be fixed, but you can find them in good condition probably cheaper than fixing those, so why take the chance?

Hope its not the cables themselves, I priced them out for my '97 Ram, $750 for the positive and $250 for the negative! I bought replacement ends from Napa and got it working for $12. Not a fan of those replacement ends, they need cleaning and tightening every year or so, but cheaper than $1000...

IHC was never a slave to convention. They didn't worry much about year-end changes, they incorporated them in production as they were developed. Hidden/non-hidden door hinges, door window heights, two-piece/one piece rear windows, all were running changes.
