Well I finally decided to start building my 48 IH KB2. I don't dig s10 or 2 wd for that matter, I'm not a firm believer of sbc in everything also. Anyways here's the pics.....

And then my help had to have a little fun-

I don't know if it's just me or not but when I'm alone in the shop nothing gets done, but if someone just stops to bs I knock things out left and right weather they help or not

Must be you, It's the exact opposite for me or, maybe that's just me [ddd
Generally my friends come by to talk [S

I'll be watch'n this build. Those old binders make a great base for a build. Saw one similar at a mud pull. It had a 460stoker with tunnel ram. [P

I don't know if it's just me or just them, but I get side tracked easy and have 9000 irons in the fire.

It's not going to be anything real wild and crazy, I'm going to leave the body relatively stock, maybe later in life it will get chopped...

I'm hoping to go with a 7.3/5 speed. I may take this on a 200 mile trip once a year and want better than 4 mpg.

Thanks, well I was going to wash the frame up but our car trailer is missing in action.... Hopefully it's back in a day or so. Maybe tonight ill pull the trans off. Or maybe work on one of my other projects....

Thanks

Well I've found out the front axle is a Dana 44 (closed knuckle), has NP203 t-case, and I think a Dana 60 rear..... Now to find odds and end parts

Not much point to chopping a high-riding 4X4, is there? Those KB's look chopped already anyway!
That ball-type front axle is hell for tough. The only drawback is a somewhat wider turning circle than the open-joint type.
Looks like a great combination of parts for a cool ride that will stay together for years. Keep us informed as you go!

And it's all stuff I've had laying around. I think in the cab/clip/ frame/ axles/ m/t I have $400-500 invested

Once upon a time ford made a steering box that would make you throw away a perfectly good truck XD

yep full time
One thing about the full time 4x4 i did like.
It would ***** foot around in the winter like a cat on ice instead of skidding the steer tires about the halfway point around a turn

And when I was braking down an icy hill and the rear brakes locked up on me and started to skid I could just reach down grab the stick and pull it into 4 hi loc...
having the transfer case locked in = the rear wheels turn the same as the front wheels.... no more rear wheel skid.

Then when I'd hit the bottom of the hill I'd throw it out of loc back into 4 hi open and ***** foot right around that icy corner.

It sucked a little more gas than a part time maybe 2-3 mpg less but still my 75 gmc full time 4x4 with a 350 auto. 4:11 gears, and 36" surplus hummer tires got 10 round town and about 12-14 on the highway

where it says **** I wasn't cussing... jus replace those stupid bug splats with the word "Kitty Footin'"
