I've sort of been hiding this build, not sure why. Partly too lazy to take pics, but partly b/c it's basically the opposite of the current arse-in-the-dirt and chopped to death look of most rods these days, so not sure how many will be interested.

Much more of a 60s style. Here's where I'm at. In the next couple of weeks I'm going to tear it all down to paint the chassis and will post much better pics.

If my 29 wasn't missing 6" off the bottom, I'd go highboy - they scream cool! Earthman's jalopy is one of my favorites even. Yours is looking great. What's the chop? The roof almost looks like it has a little rake?

I love it!!! Hi-boy is traditional. Frame draggin rust buckets is a current fad, not condeming it, it' just not traditional. Will be waitin for more pics..[P

..can we have more details?

Ok, so I found the body on CL a few months ago (with title!). The previous owner worked on it here and there for 8 years. Chopped 4", roof filled with a van top. Pretty nice work, much better than I would have patience for.

The chassis is all new. Cheated a bit and bought a basic perimeter frame and added 4-link and buggy springs front & rear. Exploder axle with 3.73 gears. The engine is a 351M boat anchor that I yanked out of a '77 Mercury and runs great. Went with the "bigs n littles" bias plys for a nice forward rake. Cross-steer in front with a Saginaw 525 box and 70s chevy pickup tilt column.

Fabbed up the zoomies last week, pretty happy with those.

More pics to come soon! Basic plan (I think) is flat white body, gold firewall, gold & black pinstriping, black frame and either gold or black wheels.

I see NOTHING TO BE ASHAMED OF!!! A rat is what you want it to be!!! If that is your vision and how you want it to sit then so be it!!! Your car you are the only one that has to be happy with it!

Got the frame chassis all finished and painted. Now to get on that body!

I've been burning up lots of vacation days lately! Painted the body in satin white, put it all back together.

Installed the fuel cell, plumbed the brakes & radiator, and wired up my switch panel. I hung it off the side of the column and has a push-button start and all the fuses. I'm using this instead of a hidden fuse box.

Seat is the middle row out of a '02 caravan.

Ended up having to run out and get an edlebrock 4bbl. The 2bbl that was on it was dumping all kinds of gas down the intake and was too small anyway.

I actually drove it around the block today! The rear spring sunk about 2 inches from that drive, so I'll have to put the leaf I took out back in. Plenty of stuff left to do, but it's looking like something now.
