thnaks R C! we got another round of nasty weather headed this way again tonight.....

let it blow away my house, my mini-van or car.......but PLEASE LORD don't hurt my family..........or my hotrods:D

Went up to the TorqueFest today. Last night they had some high winds right through the area. Saw several roofs tore up, some trees down, bins caved, and apparently several planes got flipped at the local airport. Show was great - muddy, but great! Pics later.....

survived the night-not near as bad as some had expected, the storms did do some damage to buildings, trees, and such.....nothing really close to me though.......

looking forward to your show pics Sam.......[P

hey DAvid-how's your area locally? did you or any family/friends get hit?

this is one of those things a guy just can never be fully prepared for-IMO

hope all is ok, nashville rodders.....

My garden's washed out. Driveway is washed out. Nothing like a lot of folks.
My brother lives in an apt. complex in Antioch, the area where 24 was flooded. South East area of Nashville. His apt. is atop the hill. But the lower units in the complex, and entry are flooded.
There was a lot of cars and semis caught on 24 there now under water. Saw a building, think it was a trailer modified for a school expansion floating down the interstate into a semi. This was not on a transport. It was an established used school.:eek::eek::eek:
We are ok here though. Never would have thought Nashville would get flooding this extensive. Def. a record day here. I bet the people who moved here after the New Orleans hurricane hit, are upset, if there getting flooding in there houses anyway.
Anyone within an hour of Nashville will be suffering in some way from this for a while. Huge cleanup ahead. [P

Some encouraging words

A Birth Certificate shows that we were born.

A Death Certificate shows that we died.

Pictures show that we lived!

Have a seat . .. . Relax . . . And read this slowly.

I Believe...

That just because two people argue,

doesn't mean they don't love each other.
And just because they don't argue,
doesn't mean they do love each other.

I Believe...
That we don't have to change friends if
we understand that friends change.

I Believe....
That no matter how good a friend is,

they're going to hurt you every once in a while

and you must forgive them for that.

I Believe...
That true friendship continues to grow, even over the longest distance.

Same goes for true love.

I Believe....
That you can do something in an instant
that will give you heartache for life.

I Believe...
That it's taking me a long time
to become the person I want to be.

I Believe...
That you should always leave loved ones with
loving words. It may be the last time you see them.

I Believe....
That you can keep going long after you think you can't.

I Believe...
That we are responsible for what
we do, no matter how we feel.

I Believe....
That either you control your attitude or it controls you.

I Believe...
That heroes are the people who do what has to be done when it needs to be done,

regardless of the consequences.

I Believe...
That money is a lousy way of keeping score.

I Believe...
That my best friend and I can do anything, or nothing, and have the best time..

I Believe...
That sometimes the people you expect to kick you When you're down,

will be the ones to help you get back up.

I Believe...
That sometimes when I'm angry I have the right to be angry,
but that doesn't give me the right to be cruel.

I Believe...
That maturity has more to do with what types of experiences you've had,

and what you've learned from them.....and less to do with how many

birthdays you've celebrated.

I Believe...
That it isn't always enough to be forgiven by others.

Sometimes, you have to learn to forgive yourself.

I Believe...
That no matter how bad your heart is broken the world doesn't stop for your grief.

I Believe...
That our background and circumstances may have influenced who we are,
but we are responsible for who we become.

I Believe...
That you shouldn't be so eager to find
out a secret. It could change your life Forever.

I Believe...
Two people can look at the exact same
thing and see something totally different.

I Believe...
That your life can be changed in a matter of
hours by people who don't even know you.

I Believe...
That even when you think you have no more to give, if
a friend cries out to you........you will find the strength to help.

I Believe...
That credentials on the wall do not make you a decent human being.

I Believe...
That the people you care about most in life are taken from you too soon..

I Believe.....
That you should send this to all of the people that you believe in. I just did.

The happiest of people don't necessarily have the best of everything;
They just make the most of everything.

Ever get that feeling?

Had a whole day today with not much of anything to do. And outside in the shop sat the rod. And parts. And tools.

And I didn't do a darn thing. Ever just get to a point where you run out of steam for a while? I kept thinking when the weather got nicer, I would really kick it up a notch. But it seems I got more done when it was cold and nasty outside.

Spring fever, maybe?

Yep, sometimes you just have to walk away for a while. Take in a couple of cruises or car shows. That usually amps me up!![cl..CR

Congratulations HRP.

Strangely, it seems younger guys are more likely to suffer burnout than us old men. I can work 7 days a week and the enthusiasm never wavers. The only thing that stops me is physical pain, and it is only for a day at most. Don't know how many more years I get to build cars, so there is a bit of urgency to the effort.

So many cars, so little time...

Sometimes we just need a break. I like working in the garage better in the winter. Summer time it's hot, humid and sweaty. And there's always something else needing done outside when it's nice. Cut down dead trees, work in the garden, weed eat, mow the grass, play with the kids, BBQ.
Yesterday is the first day I have worked on mine in weeks and it was chilly and rainy all day. Of course I have been waiting on money for some stuff too. That slows you down no matter what time of year it is or how much you want to go work on the ride.
You've probably seen it before but I like this video for inspiration. There are others too. He shows day one bringing home a pile. All the way to "finished" rat rod.

We'll I'm 32 and I am guessing you are referring to my age group when you say younger guys? At any rate, today everything is now, now, now. So when a project gets started and it takes more than a few weeks or months to complete it seems like it will never get done and we move on to something else.
There's no patience with younger people. Plus a lot of guys that got into this are doing it because it's "in" right now. If you are a real car guy then you stick with it.
There are a lot of stressers going on today to. They can wear a person out quick. It seems like the more advanced we become with technological stuff the worse it gets. We are bombarded with companies telling us we aren't good enough. We need new this and new that. So we are constantly pushed to work more to get it all. At the end of the day people are just to tired to enjoy things like working in the garage. I recently starting working part time because my remodeling business took a dive when the economy did. The boss is constantly telling me he thinks I should take on call for evenings and weekends for extra scratch. I just can't do it. Evenings and weekends are supposed to be spent with family. That's just how I was raised. I know sacrifices and compromises have to be made sometimes. I just have a hard time doing it. I don't think we should have to work so much that we are to tired to enjoy family time or garage time.

Sorry I kind of went on a little rant there.
