Here's what the carb hat looks like after a few minutes with Scotchbrite and spray bombs. ;)

The poor old thing is covered with dust. The wind here blows like crazy, and I live on a dirt road. I have a couple pictures of it a while back, after the Camaro subframe was installed, but that's about it. I'm starting at the front, with the engine/trans and radiator, etc., then will re-install fenders and hood. This is slow going. :) I've also posted a picture of the day I brought it home.

Fixed an old hunter tire machine...

got it for free a while back and it sat useless in the corner near the compressor...bead breaker was inop so basically useless...found the piston blown out of the cylinder that engages the cog that pulls the bead breaker in....the bolts were missing ....fixed it and it works great....not pretty but will clean up some...and the price was right...and now it works flawlessly ...

Earthman, you played right into my hand, as I also really like 56 Fords. I like black ones most of all, Animal, so watch over you shoulder quite a bit for a blond skinny guy sneaking into your garage. I still have my high school 56 Meteor 2 door. It's in a TIFF format and I can't post it.

had a great time,,have not ridden a street bike in 30 years, about a 160 mile round trip,,, .. Tobby

That's a nice looking Ford Animal. They didn't have popularity that Chevy did
in those years but that makes them more appealing to me.

I love '
'55-'56 Fords and Mercs. I've had three '56 Fords, a '56 Merc, a '55 of each. I couldn't pass this one up, even though it pretty much needed completely gone through. :)

Sorry I missed ya'll Tobby and TJ! They estimated 500,000 this year. I spent my weekend under a 33 year old Chevrolet. It's been a real dance so far...one step forward and two steps back all the way but it's getting there.

The coupe is a 1940, we have plans for a period correct gasser. was looking for a 1952-54 ford, but the 40 popped up for sale. passed on it the first go around, but TJ said we need to buy it. Smallfoot,, slow + steady gets it done,,, Tobby

then fabricate a puller from a hunk of angle iron and two bolts
and i forgot to buy the replacement key for the flywheel
flushed the gastank
changed oil and rebuilt carb
new plug

I attended the Pate Swap Meet at Texas Motor Speedway this past weekend. It is always a great swap meet and on of the biggest in the country. Had a great time. Sold quite a bit and picked up a few good deals. Mostly had a great time just visiting with like minded folks.

Drove the Vettester around the block finally. Made it back to the garage to fix leaks and either my P/S is not working or the ujoints in the steering column for the center steer are angled too much. This thing will be more fun on the highway i think. From where i sit i can see the clear distributer cap. The rotor goes round and round, round and .............
