Love the door art. Great name theme and look.

Thanks, I just wanted to do something a little different than an automotive theme :D I think I will try to age it a bit too, like Skull said .

It has come to the attention of some of us here that you might be having too much fun with this SF. :p

DANG!

........

Hey the bed looks pretty good to me bro :)

Thanks man, I still need to put a rack on it......maybe two boards high, just enough to kinda hide the fuel cell.

This evening I logo'd my other door and took my rear end cover off and cleaned it up and straightened out a bent place on the lower lip. Painted the cover up and put it back on.....will fill rear end tomorrow evening and I'll be about ready for the thirty one mile trip to the show my friend Jason hosts this Saturday. Of course my brother in-law will be hauling me 30 of those miles :D I still have no door latches, no hood latch, no glass, no rear brakes, no lights, a leaky radiator, and half of a seat  .........so I'm no ways near legal but the Willys has been running pretty good over the last few days and the tranny seems to be doing okay so I'm gonna risk a one mile drive in a rural area so that I can say I drove it to the show

Don't have any pics from tonight so I'll throw in this one from last December..........

......sure I still have long way to go but puttin' around in the yard and driveway is a lot more fun than looking at it under a pile of boxes and lumber [cl

Hey, thanks for letting me stay on......but I can't promise ya I'll tone it down :D

You better watch, the heat from the engine could warp that vinyl

LOL, yeah it might at that  I expect I'll catch some flak for using a pristine Beach Boys LP but I have a stack of vinyl about head high and it's just sitting around so I thought I'd make use of one of them [ddev

Have fun at the Labor Day event

Jim

Thanks man! That's the plan

...... Over the long last weekend I did however set myself an ambitious goal........"Memorial Day to Labor Day", three months to have this thing driving! It's probably not very realistic but there is a small car show that a friend of mine puts on at a State Park on Labor Day weekend and I'd love to debut the "Snake Farm" shop truck there......

Ray

Well, three months have flown by and tomorrow is the show that my friend Jason hosts. As I said before my goal was not very realistic but as you folks who've been following along know, the Willys is technically drivable :D I'd love to be able to jump in it in the morning and cruise the 30+ miles to the show but I'm going to settle for a piggy-back ride to the edge of the State Park and the wife and I will drive it about a mile to the show. Today/night I threw some old egg crate packing foam on the seat....

...built some side boards on my bed

374sideviewofsideboardsLarge.jpg

.....sanded my door logos a bit

376sandedthelogoLarge.jpg

.....hooked up the fuel cell, charged the battery (still don't have a working alternator) , topped off the fluids and drove around the neighborhood for 15-20 minutes.........had a game of "guess the drip" and proceeded to pour stop-leak into the corresponding holes :D I believe it will make it a mile so there it sits, ready for my brother in-law to pick up early in the morning.

Keeping my fingers crossed for a sunny day tomorrow,

What a day!

And off we go!

My sister and brother in-law picked us up about 8:00 AM....

380loadingupLarge.jpg

and up the road we went, don't ya just hate "tailgaters"......

381headedoutLarge.jpg

Stopped by their house so my sister could get her car....

383madonnaandpattyLarge.jpg

...snapped this pic of the Willys with my nephew's garage for a back drop

382stoppingtogetmadonnascarLarge.jpg

...and now in retrospect we should have taken a wheel and hub off my brother in-laws other trailer and took it with us when we hit the road again.....that way we wouldn't have had to drive back in the car and get it a half hour later

384wheelbearingtroubleLarge.jpg

....yeah, we had a little trouble LOL but it wasn't long before we were back on the road

385ontheroadagainLarge.jpg

We made it to the State Park grounds without further incident and unloaded in a picnic area and then cruised to the show. First time driving the truck on paved road so there were lots of new sounds and vibrations LOL but it didn't do too bad. I don't think it's going into drive though and a couple times it seemed to free wheel when I let off the gas ?? Still a blast to drive it after all these years tough! The show was small, about 70 cars and the Willys was the only "Rat" there although there were a couple "suede" cars. The truck got lots of looks and comments and a few folks wondered if there were any snakes it it LOL .......and one guy asked "how do you know when you are at the last house" ? :D

Really enjoyed the day ........

Hang on for a couple more pics.....

Spotted this "Speedster" on the way home and fell in love with it!

388speedsterLarge.jpg

Worked out a deal with the guy.......traded the Willys for it straight up but he backed out at the last minute :(

We consoled ourselves but going home and taking turns driving the Willys until the stop leak gave out and the radiator started leaking again

So, I made my Labor Day goal.........more or less :D and now I need to get down to some details and see if I can get this thing on the road for a little "legal" cruising before the snow flies

Best of Show as far as I'm concerned.[cl

Thanks for the road trip. Fun.

Thanks Bob!

Love the narrated pics, makes you feel like you were there!! Looking great

Thanks rainman, I do try to keep it entertaining...........although sometimes I fear it just comes out silly :D

Nice job! I like the speedster you found. Looks very savable![cl

Yeah I was bummed when the trade fell through :( LOL My sister is always collecting stuff and found these pieces in a guys garage attic. If you look at it from the rear you see that the tub is actually a cowl sitting face down......my brother in-law is watching for an old bare banger block to sit in it

.... the trailer tire thing just adds to the memories.

Later:cool:

True there! :D
