What's the easiest way to strip my truck down to bare metal???

If you're concerned about paint dust, then I would use a chemical stripper. Aircraft-grade paint remover works the best, but wear long rubber gloves, long sleeves, and jeans...if you get this stuff on your skin it burns like mad...I've done it...it works in seconds, too...then you just scrape...

What's the easiest way to strip my truck down to bare metal???

Air or electric pistol-grip sander and a flap disc. Like these: You can pick these up at Wal-Mart. Cheap. Just remember to move around and not stay in one place too long and you'll be fine.

Do you need an etching primer?

I always use etching primer when starting from bare metal, because that's how I was taught in auto-body school. You must live in a really small town in the middle of nowhere if you can't find etching primer. I live in a town of about 12,000; with 3 auto-parts stores (NAPA, O'Reilley...

    can single be made posi

Agreed. True posi setups are good for racing or offroad use only...they're completely worthless on the street. Won't corner worth a sh*t. If you plan on driving it on the street, you're better off leaving it open or at the most, put in a limited slip so that it'll disengage when the car makes...

What did I drive in high school??? This: Paid $600 cash for her back when I was 15...15 years ago...and drove her home. My dad had to ride shotgun 'cause I only had a permit, but... Here's what she looked like the day I drove her home:

    Anyone watch Pickers?

Danielle. I think the main reason the guys don't buy up old cars is because they don't drive around with a car trailer hooked to the back of the van, which is a necessity with old tin. By the way...speaking of places with loads of old tin, if any of you are looking for parts or projects...I'm...

A 454...wow. Well, you defiantely have enough room under that hood! The motor mounts you need are available from Speedway Motors, and at a price of $70 with mounting pads, you really can't go wrong. For the bottom mounts, use the ones for '57 Chevy. The frame rails are the same...

Drive-In We have one just a stone's throw from where I live, called the SkyVu...been operating since the '50s. The only thing that's changed is they now broadcast the sound over the radio instead of through the old window speakers, but they still have the speaker stands there for looks. The...
