Sorta new on here, Hey to all, from up-state NY

Maken a Panel Rat................................

Just put a 348 chevy w/350 auto tranny behind it.
Had to remove the ol steering column, steering box & drag link to do this. What is the best way to relocate the ol streeing box and drag link, sorta wanted to keep the ol stuff in the truck.

Was thinking of welding or bolting a large piece of angle iron to the frame to move the box toward the wheel, then relocating the drag link arm ball to the other side of the arm, to make it closer to the original location.........

Any input would be great,
Thanks,
Jerry

Hi 481 and welcome to RRR from northern Alberta. I think you're on the right track with the angle iron as long as you bolt it down securely. Speedway Motors sells steering column drop boxes that can move your steering over from the original hole to the new shaft position. I don't know how short of a span they will cover, though. Another option is , cut your steering column fairly short and mount it very securely to the dash, put a U-joint in just behind the dash and bring the rest of the column out through the firewall on a slant so it will line up with the box with its new U-joint.
You're doing fine, keep on tinkering.
