I am using a rebel wire harness on my t-bucket and decided to use a one wire alternator (basic gm one wire conversion). I noticed when i was cranking it the alternator was getting hot. Is this heat normal? I am running a 8 guage wire to the starter stud from the rear lug on the alternator; then, a seperate wire from the positive post on the battery to the starter center lug. The heat is a bit un-nerving and not sure it is good for the alt. FWIW its hooked up exactly per the rebel instructions. I plan on calling rebel on Monday. Thanks for any help.

That doesn't sound right, I've never seen a alternator get hot like that. I would try a direct connection to the battery leaving off the starter connection, and if it still gets hot, you have a bad alternator.

I'm thinking bad alternator also. Get it checked.

But first make sure all your connections are good and you have good ground to the motor from the battery and to the alternator as well.
