One frustrating element about the weekend was every run was a single. We get put in the dragster lane and they all are quicker and pair up among themselves. Next year we are going to sneak into the door car lanes and find some 11.50 cars to run against.
About 10 miles into the 70 mile trip to the strip a trailer tire blew. At 70 mph there was just a squared off rim and the tire bead left. We unhooked the trailer on the freeway shoulder cuz of course we had no spare. Man, when your butt is almost in the traffic lane it is good to make sure you are looked on favorably by your supreme being. Went forward 6 miles, then back 7 miles to get to a town with a farm store. No trailer wheels in my size there. There was a Tire Pros store and they found a used wheel and for only $150.00 we were back on the road. The new tire wobbled about 3/4" and kept me very nervous. I figured they sold me a bent rim. Stopped at another farm store and bought a wheel/tire combo and changed it. Same drastic runout. Ohoh, bent spindle. We left the dragster at the strip Friday night and came home very slowly in the dark rain Saturday night. We did stop at an A & W for a chili cheese dog with raw onions and a root beer float to ease the pain. Been wanting to make changes to that trailer, now I have to.
