Now that I have my Rambler wagon ready to get on the road, I'm checking out insurance companies. We use State Farm & they typically charge $250 for 6 mths for classics. Grundy quoted me $164 for a year, anyone have experience with them or any another company familiar with hot rods that have good rates? Any suggestions or feedback would be greatly appreciated!!!

Trip, I've been with Grundy over 10 years now with several different cars. I've only had one claim other than a few towing bills, and that was when I accidently broke the rear glass on the Firebird. They connected me with the folks they use for glass, Safelite, who told me they couldn't get that glass anymore, which we found out later was wrong, the guy who told me that was misinformed. Anyway, I got back ahold of Grundy and told them what he had told me, and asked if if I could just find a replacement hatch with a good glass would they cover it. They gave me the OK, I bought a whole parts car cheaper than just a hatch, put the hatch on myself and had a body shop paint the hatch to match. Grundy paid the shop bill and paid me direct for the hatch after I emailed them a copy of the bos on the parts car. I was very satisfied with how they handled it!

They're only requirements are a covered vehicle can't be a daily driver, you have to have a insured daily driver and the youngest driver can't be under 25 years old, I think you qualify! No limits on mileage or where you can go, either. We have the 47 and the Vette we just got both on a policy.

Both of my trucks currently on the road are considered antique, driven over 7500 miles per year, and daily drivers with no mileage restrictions. I've been with State Farm since 1972 and never filed a claim and pay about the same as you Tripper!

Thanks guys for your input... I went with Hagerty! They had a decent price... $369 a yr for full coverage & unlimited mileage! Grundy was more strict on mileage so that's why I went the other way!

Grundy wouldn't insure my Samurai because it had a winch on it. I told them I don't offroad it anymore but they still refused it. Jim

Grundy also wanted to see the declarations page of my real driver's policy, photos of the inside & outside of the car & so on & so forth. I just had to fill out a short form on the Hagerty website & fork over the $$$... so that's what I did!

Wow. I always have to send outside pics, but never have sent any inside ones. They didn’t ask to see anything on my drivers insurance, either, just wanted to know if I had a driver vehicle for every eligible driver. They may have changed for new policy holders since I got my first one with them about 15 years ago. I just added the Corvette last month, gave them the serial number and decided on the amount to insure it for, they gave me an email and I sent pics. They sent me the binder by email, couple of weeks later the policy came in the mail, the bill a week later.
