52 chevy truck brakes????

i can't figure out why ,i cant seem to get good brakes on my 52 chevy truck ?
the best i can get is two pumps befor it will stop?
i still have drum front and drum rear but i put a new dual bowl master off of an 78 chevy truck on it[under the floor][my other 50 chevy has the same set up but has a nova sub frame under it ,the only big diferance is i put a 2 residual valve and a 10 #residuale valve and an adjustable valve on it .but it has alwys had great brakes?]
do you gize think i need residuals on the 52 also ? drum to drum??????
The brakes work great now[52] but just have to pump 2or3 times to stop?????? about to pull my hair out on this one!

2psi for disc
10psi for drum

so i ur using a dual master u will need two 10psi valves one for the front and one for the rear

what egzactly do residual valves do to the brake system ?????

They keep a little pressure in the lines so air doesn't get in,and the pressure keeps the seals tight so no fluid leaks out.
