Don't be scared of a couple of bolts and levers. Heck you built the whole truck right? If you take your time and make sure shims and such go back together the same way then you will be fine dropping in a new syncro and fork. Just have a bunch of snap ring pliers and roll pin drifts. You can cut a ply wood square with a hole in it and bolt the trans to it so it stands up on a pair of rims stacked up. Makes it easier to work on.
