Lower ball joint was bad on my 04 Silverado. Picked up two new ones, $180,
and thats for the cheap ones. The original ones are installed with four 1/2" rivets, took me a lot of time and effort to get them out. Now, if the replacement ones are good enough to be bolted in ,why the h#@$ do they rivet them at the factory.I realize that riveting is stronger and more secure then bolts, but the bolts have to be good enough now,so I don't see the point in making the replacement procedure so miserable for everybody. Is it because they might save a few cents by using rivets vs. bolts?
