This past summer, my daughter went to a car show with me where she saw a cute Toyota FJ40. When she found out that I had a FJ40 (even the same color) buried in the back corner of her granddaddy's barn, she was in shock. She said it was hers now.

Fast forward to Christmas break. We finally got around to digging out the FJ40 and the FJ60 parts truck that will give up its beefier 4x4 components.

Honey, I swear its there.

We pushed it around to the front of the barn and gave it a bath.

It is a pretty darn solid, original paint truck. This is the only rust through!

The previous owner started to air chisel the dash pad bracket

Nice work, Miss Molly. It's going to be a fun ride when you get it done. You will learn a lot in the process, too. Very cool! [cl

I bought this thing disassembeld. I never even really looked at all of it. I saw enough that I knew I could build a street-rodded FJ40 out of it.

I want it to look something like this.

The daddy in me says it needs to have a more stock-ish stance

Did I mention that it will be powered by a small block chevy and have a 4 speed in it?

The ugly-assed turn signals are gonna get shaved. I plan on sticking some small round lights down below the headlights.

I think the revised turn signal idea will improve the look of the beast. Is it safe to assume that Miss Molly is being consulted along the way on this build? :D

Talking to her about is like talking to a 14 year old girl about anything.

....She doesn't want it tall....she doesn't want big tires ....she wants it low ....she wants it tall with big tires  [S

Right now I think it will be done as sort of a stock survivor with the groundwork laid to go big in the furture (FJ60 axles with no/little lift and small-ish tires). After the first set of tires, we will reconsider what needs to happen.

She looks happy about her new ride!. Gotta love a daughter who doesn't mind getting hers hands dirty.

Some times big engines get them in trouble but not when there smart like yours (and mine). If she does what mine did she'll be a car girl for ever. mine is 25 started at 14 and is still into it. [cl

Good job "DAD" [cl[cl
