    Offenhauser Wannabe

Got a Toyota 5MGE 4.8 liter twin overhead cam 6 from my junk a few weeks back, for a winter project. I believe its has its roots in Offenhauser, Packard, RR, and Jaguar, with Japanese quality and engineering, and I think it's 'pretty'. Set in my hobby junk yard about 15 years back after I got...

    Pertronix Distributor Adapter

Working on 'dumbing down' a Toyota 5MGE twin overhead cam 3.8, that I have in my junk that I got from an electrical fire. Am carbuerating it and looking to alter the distributor to a HEI or something. It has that computer type hall switch distributor with a vacume advance. I'd like to do what...

    Three Strikes and your OUT

I'm doing one more turbo project. Last one I promise. Accel Turbosonic from the 70s (I thought they were older). Covering it in the 'Build' area. Where I'm at now. This was on a 350, but was alittle too much, so I'm setting it up on a 5.0 Ford in hopes of a milder more street friendly lower...

    Mashup 35 Dodge PU/30 A Glass Coupe

I'm in the middle of combining two builds that I was not satisfied with into one That I hope pleases me more. The first was a Glass A coupe that it seemed everyone around me liked, but it just never rang my bell--don't know why. I tore the car down and let the body sit till the floor rotted out...

    Dirt tracking in the 80s

I thought I was a good mechanic until I started racing stock cars. Those damned old red necks will make you humble, I didn't know nothing! Glad I did it, learned a bundle, wouldn't do it again. One of those 'Hot Horseshoe' things.

    Working in a Tin Shop

I've been dead in the water since my shop burned bout 4 years ago and I had a metal building erected on the old slab. I am finally getting the building to where it's tolerable to work in. These tin buildings are HOT, and I'm an old spoiled fat guy. Uh--and kinda lazy. The metal building was...

    Swept Frame Kits

Anyone familiar with the weld up model A kits West Texas speed shop sells? I don't really need the holes, or the air bag setup, just like the up swept front.

    Blown I 6

Snagged some pics from the NTBA where a guy is hooking an mini blower to a 250 Chevy. Looks like fun, and easy to get the motor and blower at swap meets/junk yard. Not sure what intake and belt adapters are needed, but a reg 4bbl intake should work.

    Propane cutting tip Alteration?

Has anyone ever drilled out the end of an acetylene cutting tip to use with propane? Acetylene tip ends are flat and the Propane ones are recessed about 1/16. --Think it'd work? Save me a trip to town.:o

    Continental Flatties

There's still quite a few Continental flat 4s and 6s around, and you can even get a fork lift or welder or agg motor that's factory refreshed. Parts are pretty easy to get through a good parts store for a semi OK price. I may have access to one in an old Massey Harris 22 tricycle tractor, and...

    Hemi on Fire

I have a 354 project motor that burned up in my shop fire. It was so hot it melted the pistons out of it and the engine stand was so hot it laid the motor over. I have a lot $ in it, and was wondering if the crank/head/block might be salvageable. Any way of telling? Thanks for any input.

    Wire Feed Problem W/Miller 175 ??

My Miller 175 wire feed wheel quit this weekend. I took the motor/drive unit out and tested it with an 18v powersource and it worked fine. The motor is good-not grounded. The wires to the drive unit show 14 to 21 volts and respond to the wire speed knob when the motor is disconnected. It seems...

Weird Scenes From Inside the Goldmine

I am looking at a Studebaker PU to maybe buy, but can't get over the factory Bed fit they did. Heres a pick I got from eBay of one. They were about to go under at the time, so I think it was just a lack-o-money thing--sure is ugly-- I thought a thread of weirdness from the factory might be...
