Thinking about running a stock model a engine and trans in a bobber truck. I have found several sources for converting a model a diff to open drive, but is there a way to convert a model a trans to open drive? Any info and sources would be appreciated.

I have never actually been around Model A engines. I have one that would be fun for a cheep project. What is the manual adjustment under the distributor for? i know it originally hooked to the steering column for adjustment, but what for? Thanks Gerry

If you take the frame out, always continue to measure while you work, that way if someting does go wrong, your not completley done when you find it.

Yep, they really want the money here in CA. There is a 20 mile stretch of highway 99 between me and Fresno. I have driven it 3 times in the past two weeks. Each time there was a minimum of 3 people pulled over, one time there was 6.

Hey I have a Model A Axle and one of the spring perches is stuck. I have tried a few different things. I heated the axle and then trided to drive it out, no luck. I have soaked it with wd 40 and other type lubes, no luck. It is stuck real good, any ideas? Thanks

From personal experience, if it is a c shaped frame, box it. The weight and torque from a V-8 can twist and crack the stock type frames.

Here is a quick front axel question. On a model A axel, where the bones meet the axel boss, are there shims or washers that go there, or are the bones close enough fit to the axel that nothing is needed? Im trying to put together my jig saw puzzle for the first time without any instructions:eek:

Hey thanks for the input. This at least gives me a direction to start. I have also been talking to one of the local auto parts houses that sells paint and they are going to hook me up with some local guys to help me iron out the bugs.

Alright, I need the help of the body and paint guys. I have a model A that is down to bare metal. What type of primer should I use? Do I need to seal the metal before I prime? Last, what brands and types of paint would be best for someone with minimal painting experience? :confused: Thanks!

We have one of these guys here in central CA. He has some really awsome vintage wheel sets, but ask 2 to 3 times what they are worth. Sometimes he list a 65 Mustang shell with no motor or tranny for $6500. When he offers to buy something from you, its at a low ball price.

Im a car guy, I like cars of all types. Almost anyone can build a car if part "A" fits to part "B" and then to part "C". But if parts A,B,& C come from differnt cars, thats where the fun begins. Rat Rods show creativity, what hot rods are suppost to be. My car, my ideas, my way for me to enjoy.
