    Hobart 120 HELP

Have you tried replacing the tube liner? Inside the feed tube there is a liner that looks like a tightly wound spring. They DO NOT last forever. They get kinked, especially at the ends, they get full of slag, dust, and gunk. And they come in different sizes and metal, for different size/type...

    Solution for squealing belt

I found that basically all cheap belts squeal no matter how tight. Autozone, Dayco, and the like are terrible. Get good quality Gates belts if possible. And don't over tighten belts, it will eventually ruin your accessories bearings. And I have heard it will ruin your #1 main bearing and...

    Big Wheels?

I'm ok with rims up to 18". Over that, is too much. I plan to run 16" or 17" on mine. Why? Because I can get really nice used tires in those sizes for practically free. A lot of modern cars use those sizes. (I work at a dealership) I can to burnouts, donuts, broadies and skids without worrying...

curiosity killin me, bobber trucks using 60's and 70's cabs

You know what would have made that old chevy cab look even better. If they had kept the wrap around 60-63 windshield, and split it down the middle to accomodate the narrowed body. Not a big fan of the radically sloped down roofs either.

curiosity killin me, bobber trucks using 60's and 70's cabs

The Early 60's Chevy I can understand. They have some crazy curves. The s10....sort of. But the Ford and Dodge bodies of that era just don't do anything for me. I'd rather see a 50's 60's car body cut down than a Ford or Dodge cab.

    Chrysler Tub Found!

I've had two cracked 350s....in the same spot. The last one I had for 8 years, and the repair was still holding when I sold the vehicle. Just drain all the coolant out. Grind a shallow grove right down the crack, a cut-off wheel works good. Grind the around the area with a 36 grit flapper...

    If you have a Rat

If it was small enough to live in the headliner it was probably a MOUSE. RATS usually live under seats, or in the engine compartment. And they will turn a wiring harness into a useless pile of junk. These are mice.... This is a rat.....

    what's it worth survey

I gave $250 for my 48 f-6 with title, and it has a Olds Rocket engine in it. But I would say $400 is a fair price for a good cab and title. A complete body, with the small wheel openings in the fenders (1/2 ton and 3/4 ton only), $750. The flathead V8 is only worth money if you actually get...

Big shows!? I wanna go to some really big 'uns... any suggestions!?

Lonestar Roundup was fun....but too big for my taste. I guess I prefer smaller local shows. Wanted to go to Rumbler show in Albuquerque, but can't, I have a wedding to go to. If you wanna see my car, it's in the parking lot. I never enter it into a show.....because that would make me one of...

Car for sale of eBay not a rat rod!

I agree with Don. And I think the car is a "traditional inspired" build. The valve covers (1970's), trans dipstick, gauges, are not traditional parts. However, I still can't bring myself to classify it as a rat. Personally, after going through 2 bajo rear ends only to find they were junk...

    302 swap or rebuild?

Really it could be a number of things. Could be a sticking valve guide, or an exhaust valve starting to burn. Could simply be a lifter collapsing. It could even be carbon buildup, causing that cylinder to detonate. A 302 can be rebuilt pretty cheap, and an engine from a junk yard stands a...

What do you think of this?

Not a big fan of fake patina. After owning dozens of cars with real patina, I can spot that kind of stuff from a mile away. I prefer the "dull paint job" if the aged look is desired. Usually achieved by applying a base coat only, or a base coat with a matte finish top coat. But paint is not...

    Free Storage Bins

I use old cans for target practice. I find that the more storage I have....the more worthless cr@p I collect.

is this one worth the trouble?

Junk it. It will need cylinders sleeved at the very least. The machine work alone will cost more than it's worth, that doesn't include the parts.

    mid 40's chevy truck

This is probably the best advise you could get. I always recommend people start from the ground up, have your basic frame mocked up. Sit the body on the frame, mock up your seating arrangement, and actually sit in it. Measure the distance between the top of your head and the roof. It's also...

are fuel prices gonna kill peoples cruising and car show participation this year?

I agree with oldmanb, I am still gonna cruise as much as possible. For the long hauls, I will drive my daily 4 banger....of course I can't participate in the show, but I can still visit. I will make some breakfast burritos ahead of time and take my own drinks, to cut down on the restaraunt food...

This is my 47 dodge. It has been decaying for about 60 years now. Have you ever heard the term, "Rotting from the inside out"?

    Interior/Dash photo thread

This is the seat in my Gremlin, covered it myself about 8 years ago....so it's starting to show its age. It's black vinyl and cookie monster hide. The rest of the interior is stock.
