567 chev motor mounts

hi a couple of questions

I have a 55 pontiac which has an inline six in it right now
If I put a v 8 in do the motor mounts just turn 90 degrees and bolt up??

If that is the case how strong are the mounts when they are on the front of the motor?? I heard a rumor that they may be too week for the up grade


can I just replace the two speed slush-box with a turbo 350 do the linkages interchange
any input here is appreciated

I used to swap engines in my '57 Chevy when I was bored. The V8 sat in the further front and wider holes if I remember right. I can't help on the linkage cause mine was always manual trans, but I think you should be able to do it. You probably won't be able to select low gear though.
