picked up a failed project a while back , had a mini truck frame with a drop center welded in , sat low , when you had a flat the frame would sit on the ground , nice if you have air-bags , but not with suspension and no motor installed yet , so I decided to change it up a bit , the drop section of the frame was built pretty nice and square with 2x3 tube so I will be saving that and re-doing the ends , the body started out as a 2 DR sedan that an old farmer turned into a pickup way back when , didn't do to bad a job with the building tin on the back:D , a buddy needs the tops of the doors for a bad chop on his coupe so I will build a roadster PU. out of it.

Did you leave any room to stretch the cab back? Won't that be cramped?

I can't believe you got rid of all that fine looking tin work!

the back of the cab will be @ 12" so it will be @ 6" to 8" longer than the stock 28 RPU , the doors on a sedan are longer already than the roadster pickup , the frame will hang out @ 2' past the back of the cab , so @ a 3' box

I like what you've done so far, I'll be watching this build. Last month I bought a '30-'31 cowl and doors, I would like to make a pickup out of also.

up-date , picked up a swap meet front end , an old dirt tracker had this under an old sedan , says it was a 50's Ford axle narrowed @ 6" , he doesn't remember what the brake set up was from , Ford brake calipers with a homeade bracket and modified stock set-up , the calipers have a 5 on 5 pattern , and he was thinking full-size GM but might be a Full-size Merc ,he didn't recall , when I check the bearings out I will try and find a part # and cross-ref it to see , might be an easy bolt on to the ford spindle , If I find the numbers I will post them . as luck would have it I have a 5 on 5 9" ford rearend laying around so I can match up the bolt patterns front and back. also ground down the welds on the axle where he narrowed it
