Bought a new saginaw power steering box for my 34 Dodge.
On the input shaft, just before the splines it has a small 1/4" pin about an inch long.This pin interferes with the u joint on the steering shaft. It prevents the u joint from flexing to its maximum. Can I cut this thing off or does it have a purpose?[S
Hope someone can shed some light on this!

I've seen that before with that nub sticking out, I don't think removing it would cause a problem, seem to recall having done that before. It probably had some purpose in it's original application like locating the original joint.
