Ford claims that it made a 1964 1/2 mustang with a 390. Has anyone ever seen one or have picture of one.

I have seen it listed in some price guide books for big dollars

Don't think they used 390's until the next body style up ('67?). Don't believe a BB would fit in the 1st gen without major surgery.

Finally found some info on the car. There A/FX factory drag cars built by Holman moody. There was 30 of them built. They sold for $114,000.00

I wonder how Ford sold them, with the engines already installed or as bare shells? I think they were selling "bodies in white" to people like Shelby to build his Cobras, so maybe they were doing the same thing on these.

Thanks guys and thanks Bonehead for the picture. The Holman moody car is probability the same car I listed the VIN for.

I tried asking the Mustangs guy and man they said they were never made and one Guy that had a 64 1/2 went up on side of me an down the other for asking the question.

Took a bunch of rat rodder to get it done. We are a fine group.

Thanks
Again.

I didn't think there were any 64 1/2 fastbacks. Am I wrong? I had a 65 fastback when I was a kid. A friend had a 64 1/2 coupe.

That is a good question. Some say yes and others say no.

What I found out that the first 30 A/FX cars were 64 1/2 and all other after that were 65-66 mustangs

According to ford there were two plants building the mustang

Dearborn 5F08F10001 - 5FXXX2500 were 64 1/2 5FXXX25001 were 65
San Jose 5RXXX10001 - 5RXXX125000 were 64 1/2 5RXXX125001 were 65

a total of 121,538 cars were built But they go on to say that the cars built after August 17 1964 Still had the 64 1/2 platform but were titled 65. As for the fastbacks no clear answer. They also state that there were some Non-Production cars built but no details.

Here so picture I took of the 1963 Mustang Concept car that Lee Iacocca drove. In person you can see some dents in the car. The car is located in the America On Wheels Museum in Allentown Pa.
