Well time to post some pic's:) the first is the bed, put it togather last week this week Ive been working on the front. the flat stock on the grill is just the sub frame. it will be trimed out with 3/8" cold roll to soften the corrners and then the sheet metal will weld to it. 1/4" grill bars 1/2" apart will be added from top to bottom to finish it out. to form the sheet metal for it I am going to try and use wood blocks to hammer it to shape:rolleyes: Ive seen it done but first time for me hope it works out;).

I found some 35 Ford headlight buckets at the swap meet I'll try to work them in. I now have almost ALL the parts to finish my rod "Lord give me the energy":D

The last 3 pic's I'll try and explain how I intend to extend the pitman arm shaft without cutting and welding it. hopefuly you all will get it. in the 1st picture are the parts for the extenstion first starting on the right is the top portion of the pitman arm with the spline in it. next to it is the nut with 1/2 a socket welded to it then a piece of 2 3/8 od pipe with a 3/8 thick cap welded to it. then a piece 1 1/4 x 3/16 wall tubing. with everything faced off true I turned the pitman to fit in the pipe leaving a small sholder to squre it up with. then I bored the plate on the end of the pipe for a fit with the 1 1/4 tube. before welding it toghter I placed the nut with the socket head welded to it inside after its welded up place it on the steering shaft put a extension down the tube catch the socket head and use a impact wrench to tighten it up. the steering box is mounted under the dash the tube sticks out the side of the cab and a flange bearing fasten to the body carrys the end of the tube. I will fab a pitman arm to fit on the tube with a pinch bolt also once in place a 1" plug goes in the tube end and a 5/16 gd 8 bolt is put through the pitman arm, tube, and plug. next week I show pictures the finshed product Doug

Ia'm using a hydraulic throwout bearing. no room for a cluch arm;). Iam real happy about the way the extenstion for the steering box shaft turned out. good and solid just need to mfg a pitman arm now.

The last bit of work was mounting the hitch reciever and brackets for the bumper. I'll fab a model A" type bumper out of stainless steel that will extend about 11/2" past the side of the box. just for looks:eek: (I know fender less rods don't have bumpers but I've always been different:p ) got the bear claw latches in yesterday was easyer than I thought it would be:D just need to fab my headers and the headlight mounts and then it ALL comes apart and gets welded out and a little bondo and paint then back togather.:D with any luck it should be all togather by the end of March. Doug
