Is anyone running a bare model A axle? How do you take care of it? I don't need it to have a mirror finish, but would like it to look cared for.

I installed a new super bell axle and it started to rust real fast... Now that I have the front end problems squared away, I am going to clean it up and spray it with clear coat...

Not a Model A but I sprayed mine with Eastwood Cast Gray.

I agree, being a painter I've seen many spray can products out there that can reproduce the look of weathered metal or just plain metal. Maybe look into some of the "hammered" colors if your going the rattle can route. Clear coat on bare metal will not hold up for long and will discolor the natural color of the metal. The "real" stuff that works the best on bare metal is pretty high dollar. Clear coat needs something to hold on to and will chip off pretty easy on bare metal most of the time.
