I have been thinking with Memorial day coming up fast I would see how many vets we have on the site and where you have been. I did a tour in Bosnia( 02-03) and in Afghanistan (07-08). I am a 19K but we all deploy as 11B these days. I will post some pictures of some of the "Rat Rods" I saw when I was in the Stan. A special thanks to all of the Vietnam Vets out there. Your generation taught us a lot and it is often over looked, so Thank you.

WOW, your father must have done some amazing things to recieve some of those medals. Is that a silver star and a purple heart? That is something to be proud of. Thanks for sharing!

Since 02 am a Army civilian weapons system tech @ Ft Knox & now Ft Benning.

26T- my insides kinda flipped a bit when I read that you were on the Frank Cable. My son was a boiler tech on the Cable from 97 till 06. Was in the PO1 in the boiler room when one of them exploded Dec 1, 2006.

bruce one of my brother masons had just got out of the navy when that happened. when i was on her i was in the engine room and spent alot of time in the fire room too, it was a whole nother life and seems like a life time ago. i hope your son wasn't in the fire room when that happen, and if he was i hope he was ok.

Unfortunately, he was. He was burnt over 35% of his body. Him and six others were evacuated to Brooke Army Medical Center in Texas. He had numerous surgeries from then until about a month ago when he was medically retired w/ 100% disability. Sadly, his Chief & another of his shipmates passed from their injuries. He just got a job w/ NAVSEA as a civilian boiler tech instructor. Navy took great care of him & he even got promoted to Chief during his rehab.

i hate that he was there, and glad they took care of him. would love to go back for a visit, had alot of fun and still stay in touch with alot of my shipmates, they are more like family then friends.
