Hi,
my name is Daniel i come from Germany
Me and my friend wanna build a golf mk2 dieselrod, but we dont know what kind of frontaxel we can use. Cause the motor is really heavy (roundabout 500kg)
I think if I knew how much that was I could help. An old big block trans combo can push 800 pounds... On the cheep a motor home axle but any forged I-beam should hold. Springs are another story.
As Bamamav said, a VW Golf is a FWD car... with the load carrying capacity of a rickshaw. Simply put, your car will not support an axle swap or the extra weight.
Read up on unibody or unitized body design and you will understand why this is not a reasonable idea.
