is this traditional or a rat rod

I made it in to Symco last year with a traditional style hotrod, and into the hunnert car pileup also. This year Symco is having a VIP area for those cars that they deem have the wrong wheels, too much billet, IRS or IFS, etc. etc. most of the time you can make it thru the rules with simple...

1936 Dodge Pkup....soon ta be RatRod

Glad to see you are jumping in with both feet, you will find it fun, a pain in the rear, exciting, frustrating, lost, broke, ---- then it will all come together, and you built it - - kinda cool to build a car yourself - - beats buying one. Dont worry about making mistakes, you will make em, then...

    Vega Box

Sounds straight forward, just have to get the hole placement correct and hole size correct. I have never adjusted a vega box, so would have to check out a repair manual. Thanks for the photo and info Mike!

    Vega Box

Thanks Mike - I never heard of anyone doing it before, but rodders like you make it happen! Would you have any photos, or drawings of this vega box? I did see a guy with a 29 roadster that used a bellcrank system to reverse the wrong way rotation - pretty interesting, but I would rather reverse...

    Help needed with front steering!!!!!!!1

It looks like your king pins are straight up and down - (no caster) you need to have a little positive caster, minimum 4 degrees - positive is tilted towards the firewall. One of the reasons for caster is so you dont have to fight your wheels back straight after a corner - even without power...

    Steering knuckles??

Racing u-joints are the cheapest, I have used a bunch of em. I prefer borgsen stainless steel over everything else - but not cheap. But if you go with raw steel joints from borgsen - they are reasonable.

    Straight Eight trans adapter

    Straight 8

You can get a complete engine rebuild kit from Kanter, pistons, rings, valves etc. for around $ 1,500 bucks - you would still have to rebuild the carb, fuel pump, and get a water pump etc. avg. price with machining would cost you about $2,500 to rebuild --- I have a '50 Chrysler straight eight...

    Its a roller..!! Well...

Cut off all the old mounts - looks ugly anyways. You can easily move the brake lines by simply running braided flexable steel hose - or reuse what you have by just rewelding the bracket to the rear of the axel

    Front spring problem.?

You also could just make a simple sandwich plate - forget the u-bolts . make a plate and drill 4 holes, set that on the bottom of your spring and run the 4 bolts thru to hold your spring perfectly. It is simple and cheaper than u-bolts

Do my eyes lie to me..?

Your spring perch is too low - - The perch should be raised, (ie, longer sides) On axles with less drop you need a taller perch to keep it low
