Howdy I am just getting started on a 46 ford rat rod pick up trying to figure the best doner vechicle for front & rear end parts as well as the drive train.
I am going to channel but not chop the cab and will try to use as much of the old stuff as possible from the yard find truck.
All any ideas will be great for a newbie like myself.

Welcome to the site!!! I've got a 46 myself!
Doner depends on what you plan on doing, as far as front end, rear end, motor and so forth!
What I mean is decide whether you're going with IFS, beam axle, whatever!
If you're doner is only used for the motor, trans and rearend, you can use most anything!
Look around on here and get an exact idea of what it is you like, and work towards that end! Good luck with you're project, bee seeing you!

Welcome to the triple R.
There's a ton of knowledge on this forum so best thing to do is start a build thread of your project, write down all the questions you can think of and start asking what you need to know.
Don't worry about tryin to think of them all because, your list will naturally grow with your build :)
Above all enjoy yourself.
Oh  for our sake post lots of pics we're all pic freaks [dr

thanks guys I'm currently working on my 63 falcon and come spring will dive into my 46 I have been surfing around trying to get some pointers and ideas.
I will be sure to post up some pics.

Welcome to RRR!

Are you going fenderless? If so try for a straight axle - much easier to get looking good than IFS.

yeh i'm going fenderless and i'm thinking of using as much of the front end off the 46 a friend has a 302 but i still need to locate the proper rear end and tranny, i would like to keep the frame unhacked up if possible and ideas on how to keep it that way and get the cab and hood to line up looking good?
also can you help me to post some pics?

I'm back and thank you gents for the warm welcome.
Once again fail dozer on uploading pics.....a security token needed, so if a mod can help me out with this it would be great.
