hot rodded / rat rodded VWs

I seen alot of beetles on this site and thought maybe someone might have other sites or even pics of some to get an idea. I have in my mind what I what to do, with the exception of the rear section of the car. I like the idea of fenderless, roadster (front seating only) truck style, or something done to the stock rear section to give it that 40 ford look. Now in my mind I have even thought of the concept of a rail buggy rear section (motor exposed with the truck roadster front half) rool cage running into cab sectioned, chopped to the roadster windshield, remember I said my mind, didn't say I was normal in any way.

couple pics of a 63 I had a while back, and one of the day I let it go! It wasn't a rat rod vw, but definately a little bit of a hotrod.

Now I am really confussed on what to do with the rear end,....hmmm not really! great pics

Most of them are cut of kind of like a baja bug with a stock deck lid to cover the engine. I left the rear apron on mine and just kinda reshaped it. I wanted to leave it on so it will seal up and not let the hot air off the exhaust in and make it run hotter since I drive mine every dat unless its rainy.

He used a beam extention kit and the stock beam.
(I helped him mount the deck lid)
