While at a show this past weekend I had a man come up to me and as we stood at the back of my rat , he says too me . " I'm new to this rat rod thing and I think what I am liking the most is their not politicly correct " . Knew right off he was my kind of man . Had a nice chat with him and his son while his grandson sat in my truck . I hear there are Rat haters out there , but all I seem too meet is the lovers . Life is good .

Its good that you meet all the rat lovers. It is actually surprising how many people like them or dont mind them.Rats are not very big around here,so when I talk to someone about what I am building I dont say rat rod,I just sort of discribe the look, and then they say ,oh your building a rat rod, thats cool. And a lot of the people are'nt even car people,so I am always surprised.

i think most people i meet like rats
because the rat rod is a working class car -
and i dont know/associate with many well to
do folks
-they know that that more honest work
blood and sweat and imagination go into the car
than money - and thats appealing to folks
who have lived their life with the same attitude.

Yeh, this one's for the workers who toil night and day
By hand and by brain to earn your pay
Who for centuries long past for no more than your bread
Have bled for your countries and counted your dead

In the factories and mills, in the shipyards and mines
We've often been told to keep up with the times
For our skills are not needed, they've streamlined the job
And with sliderule and stopwatch our pride they have robbed

We're the first ones to starve, we're the first ones to die
The first ones in line for that pie-in-the-sky
And we're always the last when the cream is shared out
For the worker is working when the fat cat's about

And when the sky darkens and the prospect is war
Who's given a gun and then pushed to the fore
And expected to die for the land of our birth
Though we've never owned one lousy handful of earth?

All of these things the worker has done
From tilling the fields to carrying the gun
We've been yoked to the plough since time first began
And always expected to carry the can
