HI,I wanted to ask before I started build thread.
As many of you know I lost my Father and hotrod building buddy on 12/10/10.
He left behind a few parts and lots of ideas. He built Woodie bodies as a hobby the last few years.Nothing fancy, just standard body.He just had tablesaw, planer, router and skill saw.No fancy tools.
When he decided to build woodies he had a hard time finding a good 1926-27 Ford closed car cowl. Finally found a beauty in Kentucky and had it shipped here. After he chopped it 4 inches he decided to make a mold off of it and build fiberglass cowls for his future cars.He was in boatbuilding and repair his whole life,so it was easy for him.The Rat Rod woodie body he built out of that original cowl is still here.We want to leave it as is,and not use it.
I am currently out of full time work and my brother said he would help provide the materials,if I would build us one more body for our Hotrod we have been planning.
Here is my question.
Would it be OK to post build thread using a fiberglass cowl?
My dad had a set of original 30-31 roadster pickup fenders .They are beat up,but my brother thinks he can fix them.If fixable we would use them,if not, we would go fenderless.Would also be using a 1969 mustang rear axle. And an Econoline or G10 front axle.He had both.
He also left 3 steering boxes,Corvair,40 Ford and 59? chevy front steer box.
Basically it will be all used parts except for cowl.
Is that OK?
This is best site on the net and I do not want to get banned,so I wanted to ask first.
We will be building the Cowl this weekend,if all goes as planned, and starting woodie body when weather warms up.
If Glass Cowl is OK I will post build pictures from time to time.It will be a slow build,he has to sneak funds by his wife.
Here is picture of last body Dad built. My mom sold it to man in Ohio last Febuary for use on original chassis.I found these pictures of finished car on internet. This body uses his fiberglass cowl. Our body will be something like this,a little simpler design (that curved rear end was a bear)and about 12-18 inches longer.
Please let me know if fiberglass cowl is OK.
Thanks, rex
