Ok so its time to build a nice clean driver for cheap...... in May I picked up a 1960 Olds Dynamic 88 4dr...... A friend called from western washington about this Olds bein an original Bought in cheney car and spent most of its time here in Cheney Washington....... I drove to Deer Park, Wa to look at her ( was told she was a 62 Olds and I dont care for those years) I told my Wife on the way up if it was a 59 or 60 I would think about it..... When we pulled into the driveway we fell in love with her........ She has been stored inside for 30 years and the Daughter of the people that owned her pushed her outside last year....it took me 20 minutes and I had her running but we want a dependable everyday driver soooo some changes are in store and its winter time and that means I can redo some things on the Ole Girl....... First I pulled the 371/ hydro and sold to a guy that has a 60 Delta 88..... Then I have a mid 70s Vette 350 ( actually outta a vette and I can tell ya some big changes from a regular 350) and a 200-4R thats going in her ( yes I know its a belly button engine but then again they are reliable)....... so now as I go I will take pics and updates when I can...

Thanks
Smitty

Sooo........I'm guessing ya got your $200 back out of the engine and tranny....and now have a 'free' car ;) Either way that is a real nice score [cl[cl
Progress is looking good too! [P[P[P

Oh, almost forgot.......can I have the steering wheel  :D

Thanks guys...... I think I have about $100 in her right now..... I have the engine/ trans, driveline done and now working on the Headers...... Stock manifolds didnt work soooo I found a set of late 80s chevy pickup headers....Now to slice and dice them to bits and make a drivers side fit around steering box..... These are the headers I am using but the drivers side will look 1/2 the same when I am done....

Drivers side header done and passenger side done also....... need to build headpipes for it and put mufflers on......Going to have to run an electric fuel pump unless I make a dimple in the cross member to run a manual pump.

There are some people who would say you killed the Pope or something for putting a sbc in that car, but I really get it. As much as I like Olds engines I have to admit that if it is a car you want to drive a lot, and far, a sbc makes some good sense. For one thing you can pull into any Autozone and get almost every part for one, whereas 371 parts are not available everywhere.

I have about $ 3000 in pretty much a stock rebuild on the 394 Olds in my rpu project and for that money I could have bought two brand new crate Goodwrench motors, and I am not done with it yet.

Smart move on your part.

Don

Don, I would have bent the pope over and.... well lets just say I would have put an LSX engine in there with a 4L60E![cl

I like it alot and like where you are going with it![P
