Got it running no problem...Got a problem when you begin to stop the Idle drops down and engine dies [S...what could be causing this? Its got a fresh Holly carb on it. I really dont know rps cause no tech or speedo...any advice

A lot things can cause it not to idle. Is this a stick or auto trans? Two things that come to mind real quick are a vacuum leak and low timing.

Are you running power brakes?? If so, could be a vacuum leak at booster!

If no pwer brakes, check float level in carb., could be too high!!

What rpm is it idling at?

When you hit the brakes while stopped, does the idle or sound of the engine change? If it does you could have a leaking booster!
How bout a pic of you're set up? Where are you drawing vaccum from and so forth?

Maybe idle mixture is too rich, try and turn the idle mixture 1/4 turn and see if that helps. Tach would be nice to help solve this.

Do you have a big cam in it, if so you will probably need to turn up the idle speed to help also.

Or like others said, check for vaccum leaks and double check timing.

Your convertor might be a little too tight for the cam and combo you are running. My Son Dan had to bump his rpu into neutral at lights since he has a wicked cam and the car wanted to lug down and pull him through the lights. We are switching from a 2500 stall to a 3000 stall, which should help.

Next time you are coming to a stop put it in neutral first and see if it stops and keeps running better.

That's one power making motor. [dr What pistons and head are you running?

What car or truck is it in? Would love to build one in future.
