Thanks guys!

Wow it's cold here today, I'd put a NG radiant tube in the shop this fall thank god, so it was nice and warm in the shop. -21C this morning.

I tacked up the headers today. It took a lot longer than I'd figured (doesn't everything?). I wanted to get the angles right, twisting them a bit so they'd be more parallel with the bottom of the car. They aren't finished welded yet, but I bolted them up to confirm the fit and the left turn can make it right to the stop now!

Dropped my angle gauge and broke it, so it was slow going with a machinists level.....but in the end I managed to get everything tacked solid, looking right and both sides looking the same. I still have a few more days off of work so I hope to make some more progress this week.

'Tis a little frosty here as well.

Are you running those pipes wide open? (I don't think I can get away with open headers here, either.) Ontario, I understand, has strict regulations... what's the plan?

.

Hi Doc. No, I'm not planning on running them open. I bought the 21" extensions with mufflers, and I've also bought some 3.5" pipe to extend them even further. I'm intending to extend the collector with the 3.5" pipe, and then put the extension/muffler/turnout so that it turns out close to the rear tire. I hope that will keep the noise and fumes behind us. Not that I'll put a whole ton of miles on this thing - as my wife says, we're too old to be crawling in and out of this thing!

Thanks for checking in.

I always appreciate the feedback....and especially when it's positive :p

Still mighty cold here, but managed to make a little progress today. I didn't want to weld while my help was here, so we started pulling in the wiring. Wow that's tedious work. Some of these pictures might be a bit repetitive....

Back to work tomorrow, so my progress slows once again.....
Set the car down on the wheels today, rearranged the shop to give me a little more room around the car. Ordered some odds and ends to finish off the headlights and parking lights, etc. Both doors and the trunk lid latch now, so now I can insulate and install the door glass. I'm determined to have the car roadworthy and driving in 2018!

You're to the point now, you couldn't quit working on it. It's coming together visually and will make you stop and do something every time you pass by...

Progress! Or at least it is for me:)

Finally found some pipe that will allow me to make connection between the sprint car cap and the fuel cell.

Cut the pipe I had for the collector extensions, welded them up (after several hours of checking, measuring, etc etc....I don't know why I get so preoccupied with making both sides the same, it's not like you can see both sides at the same time!)

So, I'm really happy with how it turned out. Can't wait to hear them!

...and one quick shot of my sightline from inside the car.

I really appreciate the feedback everyone! (especially when it's positive :))

Little more progress today - installed this old license plate bracket and light that was kicking around the shop, I'm not even sure what it's off, but I like it.

Started insulating the doors, installed the window guides and windows. They even crank up and down decently!

I did a little more insulating around the back window - enough that I can finally hook up the filler neck.
